Photobucket Problems & Partial Resolve

There seems to be two different problems forum members are having with Photobucket.
I havne't been able to duplicate the missing pictures or disappearing pictures like Richard FL and Fishlessman is experiencing.
The missing codes I think I have resolved. However, yesterday when working on this the mouseover feature worked fine on my systems and my albums until I began to try and figure out what is happening. I no longer have the nice feature of the codes only showing when I mouseover.
To get the codes to show in the albums there are two different ways. Neither method will get the mouseover option to work for me (at this time).
This appears to be the same with either Firefox or IE. I lost my mouseover's when I went through this with IE. When I went back to Firefox the mouseover feature was not available.
The easiest method:
. Open Photobucket.
. You probably will be at 'Latest Activity' page.
. Click 'All Albums'
. Click 'Just Browse'
If your codes are showing or if your mouseover works all is fine and you are done.
Otherwise on any picture:
. Click 'Share' (above picture)
A pop up window will appear, in the pop up window
. Click 'Get link code'
Screen will change here and you will see 7 boxes which can be selected or unslected. I only select 1 box IMG (1st selection) as shown in picture 1 below.
. Select codes you want available
. Select 'Show links in my albums:' always
. Click Save
You will be taken back to the album with your codes showing.
The same options can be used when going to your account settings.
The change code screen is on the left side in Album Settings. Use the blue Link Code option.

Excellent tutorial, thanks much.
I just cleaned up the code bars so now I only have the IMG bar showing. Much better.
Testing....
Good luck on your end. -
Wish I could test those wings...
Removing all the extra codes is a lot cleaner to look at. I wish I handn't lost the mouse over function though. I really liked that. Possibly it is just something that is going on in PB for now.

If it's worth anything I don't have mouse over drop down IMG code bar like I use to. It just appears under all photos automatically.

Intresting post from another site about PB.

Great tip. Thanks. Worked fine.

There is some talk on other forums about these same problems. I recall the last time a virus showed up it was contained in the many ads that Photobucket has. Among the recommended actions was a malware scan.
Here is a response from Photobucket yesterday:
Please note that it is important you log out after each session and that you freshly log in for each new session.
Please log out at this time, clear your browser's cache, refresh and log back in.
Okay, that's pretty standard but worth a try. Here is the link to the FAQ page with instructions for many tasks in Photobucket.

i believe thats where i got the internet security 2010 bug last week, it was while uploading onto photobucket. they needed to hook my puter up to another with a fully working avast antivirus software to get it out, uploading the software straight from the site was something 2010 attacks during the process. it probably has left some scars on my end that may not be letting me see the pics in pbucket :(fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Interesting post. I'm not sure that it has anything to do with this current issue, though.
I did get that same virus (not really a virus. Adware, I believe) from somewhere...could've been facebook, could've been photobucket...could've been pretty much anywhere. It was a real beast. When I tried to install various malware/spyware/adware removal programs, it would automatically kill the install program. Sneaky. -
exact same problem I had several weeks ago. It's a real b#$@#, isn't it?

I wonder if there are problems posting images beyond what's going on with Photobucket.
I posted 1 yesterday - post looked fine, image looked good. I come back and read replies later and the post is there but the image is gone. Edit post and put image back in - looks fine. Come back later and it's gone again.
All of the images we hosted on my server, so it's not a Photobucket problem with me.Food & Fire - The carnivorous ramblings of a gluten-free grill geek. -
Thanks, that is a huge help!

ok, get into the empty default folder that contains all my so called egg pics, click organize, click to copy on the pic that comes up and make a new copy, click the img code, copy it back to the default folder , click on the default folder and it still doesnt show, but have the img to post with, only takes 20 min to post one pic,
good thing i made all that alchol with the egg this year cause i need a drink right about nowfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Interesting. I haven't logged out of PB for probably 4 to 6 months until today. I leave PB, the forum, and 5 or 6 other pages open all the time on this machine. Once in a while I will put this machine in standby but normally it is on 24/7. When MS secruity updates come in there is a reboot but Firefox keeps all the pages saved and they open every time Firefox is open.
Two or 3 weeks ago I did get a screen something like what fishlessman explained. That didn't come from within PB though. I could only close the screen with the task manager. I then went through several malware/virus checks just to make sure there were no problems on the machine. In the end the machine was clean.

I think I remember that post. Wasn't the picture moved or re-uploaded into PB? That would cause the original picture to not show up.

There possibly could be something with 'Flash'. Make sure Flash is the current update - Adobe Flash Player.
I can't duplicate the missing picture issue.
If you want to set up a temporary password then email that to me I will go in and see if I can tell what is going on. You can change the pw back later.
Richard Fl is having the same problem and I would like to get that resolved for him.

that could be something with flash, that 2010 really screws with startup of other programs, ill go dowload the newest version and see. heading away for three days, if it doesnt work by tuesday when i get back ill send an efukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Have a good weekend.
No way of know if my 2010 attack was the same as you got. It took some work but I closed the screen down. I never clicked on the screen at all. I then ran 4 or 5 different checks on the system here but nothing was found.
When I was more active on eBay I would get hit 8 to 9 times a day with onscreen attacks. That many and more with emails. I set up an eBay phony email address and when I would get an email from both addresses I knew that was an attack or someone fishing. I had to be real careful with eBay and PayPal.

No, I always link to images on my own web server or SmugMug. I've never used PB, but I've re-posted the image 3 separate times, checked that it displayed okay each time, and then come back later and have the photo go bye-bye.
Go figure :PFood & Fire - The carnivorous ramblings of a gluten-free grill geek. -
I don't think it it a forum issue, otherwise there would be all kinds of posts reporting the problem and we would see a lot more missing pictures.
Go to one of your posts where the picture is missing, and edit the post. Look at the link, Then open another screen and open your hosting site and look at the code for the image. If the image code matches open a third screen and paste the image from the forum into the address bar. The image should show on the new browser window. If the code is the same and the image does't show then the problem would seem to be with the hosting site.
It is just going to take some leg work to get your issue resolved.

"it eventually killed windows startup"
I just received an alert about one of MS updates that 'possibly' will cause start up problems. MS pulled the update back and is checking it out now. It's being reported that some folks also are getting the 'blue screen of death'.
However, the same article said there are some malware issues that could also be causing the problem.
From your posts it sounds like you have IT people working on this and they should be well aware of these issues and how to fix them.
