Happy Day!!!

I want to share this special day with my egghead friends. As of today I have been cancer free for 12yrs. I had been told that due to the primitive type tumor and agressiveness of it that I may only survive a year. Well, I'm here 12 yrs. later and living proof that you CAN beat this horrible disease. I have to thank my great team of doctors at DUKE Medical Center that did my stem cell transplant, they were truly amazing. I also want to thank my husband, daughter, family and all my friends for their support. Last but not least I want to thank God, for giving me a 2nd chance at life.

If any of you have friends or loved ones that have been diagnosed with cancer and are going through treatments, I'm alway here to lend and ear and give them some words of encouragement. Just send me an email through the forum.

Congratulations Anne!!! That is wonderful. LOL, It's great to be a survivor isn't it! Fourteen years ago today you would have found me recovering from 3 major heart attacks due to undiagnosed diabetes at the ripe old age of 45. When I saw the ER cardiologist he said "Let me quote Fred Sanford . . . you've had the Big One!" One thing us survivors like to do is to start the day with a big smile and Thank God we are still here. :cheer:

Congratulations Anne. I'm also a cancer survivor for six years (prostate). I opted for the surgery and I'm glad I did. Two friends were diagnosed with prostate cancer at the same time and they went the non-surgery route. Within three years both started showing elevated PSA readings. My PSA tests come back every year as "no detectible amount."

Just last week my doctor said I was doing great and had nothing to worry about. So we started talking about Big Green Eggs instead. It's a good feeling that I felt like sharing, just as you did. Thanks for reminding folks that it can be beat.

Scott, like I said if you ever would like me to talk to your family member, I would be more than happy to. I know God has a purpose for me and helping others going through this is one of them. I know how much it helped me when I was diagnosed. It's so reassuring to talk with someone that's survived it.
Where in Scottsdale are you? I live in Gainey Ranch. I'd love to meet you sometime. Are you going to the Tempe Fest on Feb. 12th?

It was 9 years for me last month. Thank God cancer is no longer a sure-fire death sentence.

Gator, thank you for sharing your story. You can relate to this seeing you've been through a very similar situation. 45 yrs old is very young to go through what you did. I haven't missed a day of thanking god. I truly believe in the power of prayer. I wish you continued health.

Thanks Leroy and congratulation to you!! When you the diagnosis you need to hit it with all you have. You only get one chance at it. Glad to hear the good news from your doctor report. Maybe we should get together and start an Egghead "Survivors" group.

Thanks for sharing your story Gary!! I agree with you and that's the word I'm trying to get out to people. Cancer is NOT a death sentence but it is one heck of a battle.

Wow Anne I did not know. What I do know is you have a glow about you. Blessings to you and yours.

I am a survivor myself I was in a major motorcycle accident on mothers day May, 1991. I was revived twice in the ambulance before getting to the hospital. I had 13 corrective surgeries two of them were over 12 long. Three years later I chose to quit drinking and using drugs. It took me a year to walk again and now around 16 years clean and sober. I have witness to others when I feel it will help them. Tim
