Gasket question

Last week I nearly melted my gasket, but caught it before it was totally welded to itself. Am I any more or less susceptible to melting now that I've 'cured' it?

Hard to say. Make sure it is tight all the way around the dome. Use a dollar bill to test. It should be hard to pull out all the way around.
