Let it cool and head over to the dealer. It should be covered under warranty. That is my fear with that style stand.....
-
ohh thats not right
-
Harsh!
Could have been a real disaster if you had more lump in there and it dumped on a wood table or deck. Lesson we can all take something from in this situation -- very sorry you had to take it on the chin Bill.
I'd certainly think twice before I cooked with my mini in the fireplace armed with this knowledge! -
that is just sad!!!
my condolences go out to youhappy eggin

I have that stand also. Looks like the heat leak between the fire box and fire ring combined with the metal circle made a clean cut on the outside ceramics.
Maybe it's time to get working on the mini stand and get it out of what it is in right now.
Looks like you will be getting a new bottom to the mini.
Nice looking burn by the way.

Oh man! That sucks fat donkey balls! Is it warranty?
-
DANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I've never seen that happen before  So sad man :( You're lucky it wasn't on a wood deck :pinch:
-

So sorry. warranty I am sure, however JB Weld might help and then you may have 2 minis.
-
Will they replace the whole thing and let him keep the old one though? I don't know, never had to deal with the warranty(knock on wood). But my guess would be they will replace the bottom of it only.
-
i have had the mini for years and only put it in the stand for the holidays this year as it was snowing and i needed to get it up out of the snow..
i am bummed -
no it is not.. all set to cook on the mini all afternoon,, the large is warming up as i write
-
I really think you will be OK. How far is the dealer from you and is he a good dealer?
-
Thank the stars that you were paying attention and this wasn't on a wood deckVisit my blog, dedicated to my Big Green Egg Recipies at http://www.bigtsbge.blogspot.com You can also follow my posts on FaceBook under the name Keep On Eggin' or the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keep-On-Eggin/198049930216241

now we will wait for a new stand design and new hing design....may be waiting a long time for that MINI :( -
it was full of hot lump... thank goodness i live in a brick house and the concrete in the breezeway is 18" thick.
and i hope all read your warning....the mini inside in a stand even in the fireplace could be ugly..
fortuately for me [king of the flip flops] it fell straight down as i did not have boots or decent shoes on. had it tilted and dropped hot lump on my feet.. :( -
thanks it really is a bummer... wish i had a picture of the look on my face when the bottom dropped out.. i am sure that would add a bit of humor to this..
-
Yeah, no kidding.
-
Bill, sorry to see that sweet mini broken. Maybe the Mother Ship needs to investigate your whole set up and send you a couple of replacements for your efforts in advancing their knowledge
-
Probably a little like this:

or this:
-
mini will go on a granite stand or on the breezeway floor as before ..
you are right about the dynamics once it is cooled i will get some better pix and post them
as i think about this i had a pizza stone in and that probably caused the base to really get hot -
i hope so or i will be working overtime
-
bill,
Sure beats the livin piss outa bein a totally stupid, rushed, half crocked, in the rain, shoulda slowed down, dumbass, mistake like mine. :(
BGE will hook you up man. Just call Bruce. Tell'em to wait for the new style
-
no wood 18" of concrete.. for which i am thankful .. and my feet are un damaged as well
-
Even if he just gets the bottom replaced and gets to keep the damaged one, will make a nice flower pot.
-
am about to start medicating if you want to join me
-
i was thinking of sealing the draft door and making it a water bowl for the pooch
-
It sure makes you look at the idea of 'hanging an egg' like the mini stand does. :S
-
i will be sending the pix and story to the distributer the dealer and the mothership.. i am sure they will take care of me,, still bummed the mini was like part of the family

I vote for Kevin and not Homer
