I know that disassembling the fire ring and fire box aren't *that* difficult, but has anyone tried attaching something flexible to a vacuum hose to allow you to snake it in the main opening and around the fire ring to suck out any ash that falls through the holes?

If so, what did you use?

    3Pedals6Speeds,

FLAPoolman has a piece of rubber hose about 3/4" attached with duct tape.

Use to be a good picture of it flooting around.
I went to the big box store to do one and gave up after spending about $12 and it not working. Wife would not let me duct tape to the hose and leave it.
Salado TX & 30A  FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

    Mickey,

There is an adapter that Ridgid makes. Plugs in the end of the 1 1/4" hose and goes to a 3/4" hose barb.
