Questions for a new egger

Ok I have just bought an egg and I have a couple questions...
1. What is TREX, what does that term mean?
2. What does Hot Tubbing mean? I am assuming a boil pre-egging???
Thanks.

TREX is a Forum members handle. His method of cooking steak is to sear over extremely high heat both side, remove steak, allow egg to cool significantly, then finish steak by roasting.
Hot Tubbing is a method of bringing meat to a temp of approx 100deg prior to cooking. It is not boiling. It is typically done in a plastic bag.
  • nice and concise.

here's something less concise  both methods achieve (sorta) the same thing. they split the cook into two parts, one part is searing, the other is raising the internal temp of the steak independent of the sear.

there are differences beyond that, and things that each method hopes to achieve, but essentially it's a way to cook a thick steak (no one does either method on anything under an inch-and-a-half usually) so that you achieve doneness and the desired level of sear somewhat independently.

divide and conquer, that sorta thing.
