Before it becomes Split Pea soup...

I have a half ham shank from Farmer John. Fully cooked. Any simple way to brighten this up before I cut the bone out and make split-pea soup out of it. Its about a 10 pounder. Like could I slo smoke it or something?[p]thanks

    tach18k,[p]Rumrunner has a neat idea below. I'd be tempted to follow his "stuffed ham" idea, and smoke the bone alongside the ham. Then use the bone for some whoopty pea soup. (Mom always said "bone cost the same as the meat - better use it all".)[p]Ken
