Coca Cola Pork
Tried this and it was very good...thought someone might like to give it a go...Cut or buy 1 1/2lb pork loin 1/4 in. and rub with oil and your favorite rub (mine is a combination of hot and mild dried chiles roasted and soaked in hot water, then blended with roasted garlic and enough of the liguid to make a paste), sprinkle w/coarse salt and pepper then grill till done and a nice bark forms. Mix butter and mustard together and coat the pieces of already beautiful meat and layer in bottom of a iron pot, and layer on top of that: 1 med onion, 1 bell pepper, and 2 tomatoes all sliced 1/8th in thick, sprinkle in about 5 cloves garlic chopped and last pour 8 - 12 oz coke over all and cook in egg with lots of hickory smoke for about 30 to 45 min at a simmer. Mine turned out fork tender and the broth was the best stuff I ever sopped up with a piece of hard bread.

Chet,[p]Somebody gave me a gallon of pure Coca Cola syrup. Any ideas on how you'd substitute the syrup for the soda. To make soda from the syrup you do 8 oz of seltzer for either 2 oz of syrup. So the syrup is pure sugar. Would you dilute it with water or seltzer, or would you go for a different (stronger) taste and just less of it straight?[p]

char buddy (for now), none of us tasted the flavor of the coke so I have to guess that flavor is secondary to the effect of the fizz...truth is I believe the real important thing about this recipe is the method first and then the flavors...in other words to answer your question...try diffrent combos to see what you come up with but for sure try the twice cooked thin cut meat and veggies.
