Salmon tonight (inspired)

Don Marco's post inspired me to do salmon tonight, then along came JLockhart's salmon cook. So I sorta blended the two and here's what happened.
The raws: EVOO, Raging River and Shaking the Tree rubs, capers and some thawed Sam's salmon filets (sorry, not the best, but were in the freezer  ): I decided to use BOTH the RR and STT - worked great!

Fired up the small - first use of it since Christmas. Got a good 250-300* fire going with a raised, direct grid. Brushed the hot grid with veg oil, added some alder chips and cooked about 30 minutes until 125-130* internal.

Plated with some steamed asparagus per the Princess (wife).

Turned out great! Thanks for the inspiration, guys ! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Frozen up all weekend. I haven't hunted in 3 weekends. This has been the worst duck season in several years (weather just hasn't cooperated in getting the ducks down here and now they probably flew over us and went to Louisiana coastal areas).

Don't do the geese - too greasy!
Will probably try this weekend...... -

It was our first time with capers on the salmon. I told Jana I really liked the combination of flavors. JL used lemon slices, but since I couldn't find any lemon in the frig, I decided to mix STT rub with the RR - worked pretty good.
These "unique" plates show up in other Egger's pics also. -

Just peaking at the forum from work but dang Clark it's ok to steal my cook but did you have to steal my plates as well!!? :P Even took my asparagass out of my frig!! If you got all that hope you got my wife while you were at it! :pinch: :P Serious really great looking cook. Jake would approve.

Same for us on the ducks this year. We had so much rain that the river is 10 to 20 foot above flood. We are hunting in the tops of pin oaks in 20 foot of water where we would normaly be waiding. No food for the ducks to stay around and to get to feeding water you have to leave the hard woods and get back into the pines which of course has no food. Just a terrable year. If you notice I havent posted any pics really this year.

"Borrowed" your cook, your plates and your asparagus. Sorry, but one wifey is enough, you will have to keep yours.
Next on the list is the corn/ La Bomba combo - sounds great!
No way I could even consider stealing ole Jake, though!
Hope he is improving.
Pyschotherapy in his future?

I take it you are on the road again?
Where this week?
Hey, the wind was out of the South, so you wouldn't have had to smell the great cook anyway!

Easy cook, JoJo.
I usually cook salmon at 400* (direct, elevated), but this was only at 250-275* and turned out really good - moist and tender. -
Man - that meal makes me want to go swimming upstream! Awesome looking Salmon -
