I've heard talk of an Eggstra Large BGE with a 24 inch diameter cooking area. Anyone else hear about this?

GrillMeister,
Yep, sure did about 3 weeks ago. My distributor called and told me that he had heard they were making a bigger egg just not much after that.[p]CWM
-
Heard from a VERY reliable source that it was demo'd at the big California home and garden show last week. Details will be coming out soon!![p]Jim
-
JSlot,[p]I heard about the demo at the California show too...pretty "egg"citing![p]Tonia
:~)
-
GrillMeister,[p]I saw the XL at the show. It's going to be a great new offering from BGE in late spring. Looks great and BIG. A must have for the real eggers.[p]
-
GrillMeister,It looks like the cat has escaped her bag....I saw it two weeks ago, it is MUCH larger than you guys heard... this thing is a Gigantic Green Monster!
-
GrillMeister, I saw the Dinosaur Egg at the show last week and even tasted some food as they had it in action. It was a beautiful sight to see.
-
GrillMeister, Anyone have any pictures of this XL BGE?[p]BeerMike
I think it's time for another beer!
BGEing since 2003

GrillMeister,
Call me quirky, but I'm firmly in the camp of "Bigger is Better." My large BGE is actually as small as I will ever go with a grill. I know a lot of people love their med's and smalls. I'm just not there. If there is a dinosaur egg in the future, let it be part of my future![p]Does anybody know if it is round or oval?
Not to throw water on this particular fire, but based on my personal experience, I think I would want to see some actual user reports about hinge performance before jumping on this wagon.
-
It is round.[p]Jim
-
Just like an egg should be.[p]John
-
BeerMike,[p]My local dealer saw it at a show. He was impressed.
-
tn slagamater,[p]I heard it weighs 200 lbs. That's gonna sell alot of carts & egg nests.
-
rock,[p]Hmmm. Most large Weber Kettels are 22" in diameter, and the monster egg has 2 more inches. That's some serious cooking area.
-
GrillMeister, I was at egg central in atlanta this past weekend and B.A. said they were coming out with a new 24" large. Did'nt know eggs-actly when but it is on the way.
-
WooDoggies,[p]Eggs are round?! How many drinks did you have last night? ) The eggs where I live are cylindrical looking but they ain't round. Got sort of a taper to 'em. You know, so it's easier on the chicken when she pushes the d*mned thing out. Otherwise, her backside would slam shut on her and that just might hurt that chicken.
-
GrillMeister,
What does this bad boy weigh in at?
-
Word on the street is it comes in at around 200 lb. I'm guessing just a little above that. The charcoal grate itself weighs 15 lb.! LOL.[p]Jim
-
backyard bbq,[p]I can see another toy coming at Christmas this year![p]Now, how to explain it to Mrs. GrillMeister? Maybe I'll give her one of my Large BGEs?
-
Tim M,[p]It looks like we've got several confirmations of the 24" diameter and the 200 lb. weight.[p]Maybe Da Mayor will have one at the Waldorf Eggfest so we can have a look-see.
-
I hear that arrangements are being made to have one at Waldorf. Chances seem to be about 90% from what I gather.[p]Jim
-
JSlot,[p]I heard chances were only 89% that one would be at Eggfest. Who's your source? Huh? Huh???[p]Just kidding,
Cornfed
-
I needed that laugh this afternoon! Thanks![p]Jim
-
JSlot,[p]Great. Are you gonna bring a whole hog to cook on it?
-
Wish I was gonna be there, Ed. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, the EGGomaniacs were committed to a contest in Spartanburg, SC before the Waldorf date was announced. We'll be there in spirit![p]Jim
-
Hey Mac, Have you been hanging with StumpBaby??? LOL Joe
-
JSlot,[p]The Jets just signed some guy named "Tongue." I think we all need a laugh![p]http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/view_toparchive.php?id=668[p]Later,

slicktop,If B.A. said it's on it's way,it's on it's way!!
-
WooDoggies,
Count me in on this! I want one, and the sooner the better. Weight and cost are both details. Means that I can do bigger and better things on the BGE!
I know what I am giving my sales force for incentives next year!

Guess the our opponents are gonna take a lickin' now!!!!
-
JSlot,[p]Too funny! What's this I read above about you not making it to Eggfest?!? You'll be missed. Good luck in the competition, though. And send us some of your ribs...[p]Later,
Cornfed
