OT: Holland "Grill"

The Holland "Grill", I just don't get it. It isn't a grill because there is no flame anywhere near the food, none. It cooks to low of a temp to sear steaks or anything else, so that is out. It cooks to high to smoke or roast meats, that is out. It isn't insulated so it doesn't perform like an oven. It is gas, so you get no charcoal flavor. It cooks at 400F at all times, no matter what(unless it is not working properly) You basically have no control over your cooks except putting the meat on and taking it off, where is the fun in that? So, other than it being used outside, wth about it makes it a "grill"?

We all saw your first "venting". Holland advertizers a non typical "gas grill". They make no comparison to a lump/charcoal grill.
They are unique and very good gas grill. I have had the mini one for years. You can smoke on them using a small metal box and smoke pellets.
I agree, not very good for searing steaks. But for a gas indirect, they are very good.
I have cooked a fattie on mine, then biscuits. Do they compared to a BGE? NO. They don't claim to.
Start less threads on this one subject please.

  • Mike,

With all due respect, the first rant had nothing to do with a Holland grill other than I was reading about them when someone(a consumer, unrelated to the Holland Grill) made his comments at the end of the article. The article itself was about all grills, and didn't recommend a particular one.

This post, however, is one directed at anyone that has info such as yours about the Holland Grill. There is a reason I was looking around about them, I was interested in one for my grandmother, who says she misses grilled foods. I figured the Holland could be the most simple one for her, but just don't know if it cooks like a grill or what.

Sorry there was confusion, but again the thread about stupid people wasn't in reference to a Holland Grill.

Have another drink, and relax a little....work week doesn't start for another 36 hours.

Doesn't sound like much respect to me. I was trying to be kind.

    Have a nice 36 hours.

  • It may not be that way in South Carolina, but in the midwest the company that distributes BGE also distributes the Holland Grill. That is in maybe 5 states.
  • There was no reason for you to go off on Parrothead like you did. He had a very valid post ("Venting"). Everyone seemed to be in agreement with him. I have to agree with him.....Have another drink and relax! It's people like you that cause all the problems on this forum.
