Ooops.....Leather!
Went out ans bought some nice Ribeyes for the boys and myself and a Fillet for the wife.[p]Went to TREX them and made a small mistake. Instead of cooking them at 750+ for 90 sec a side, I made a mistake and cooked them for 3 min per side. It was dark so I could not see the mistake when I flipped them.[p]When I pulled them off, I nearly cried! They were charred black and VERY well done. There goes a waste of $30! Maybe I could make some shoes of of them?

Nate Dogg,
Sounds like something I would do, and I'll bet there are a bunch of others who have done it, too. However, in respect to you....I am certain that there is weeping and gnashing of teeth throughout the Eggdom. My deepest sympathies.[p]Mike

Nate Dogg,
been there...done that
OTOH while not paying attention in the dark MAY have been avoided iffin you had light on the meat. My BGE's and time I grill are most often in the dark - so I mounted a 3 AAA battery head lamp to an old hard hat I own. Talk about a no hands, lighted area that works for me! email me if you want more info on the retrofit as I mounted the light on the rear of the hat so as to miss the brim.

RRP,
A new meaning for "dome light". How about coming up with a light that could survive the internal temps of the egg and hook up a dome switch. When the dome opens, the light goes on.[p]BeerMike

BeerMike,
LOL but then we would spend hours like we did as a kid trying to see if the light stayed on when you shut the door on the frig!
