<p />BobM,[p]What type of wood is the table made of? My table is made of redwood, and I used Watco Danish Oil. It makes a nice finish but needs to be renewed about twice a year.[p]Chuck

BobM,[p]Well I'm not sure what the BGE table is made of, but my guess would be pine. If that's the case, any good deck stain would work pretty well but of course would have to be renewed just like your deck would. If choosing a deck stain, then you would still have to choose solid, transparent, or semi-transparent. I've also seen lots of painted tables in pictures here. I would certainly stay away from polyurethane - it always seems to peel. Same with spar varnish.[p]The Naked Whiz has a page with lots of tables. Maybe you've already seen it but I've put in a link. BTW, maybe email TNW himself, I've seen his pics of Ben and Jen and man do they look buff![p]Chuck[p]

  • BobM, the last time I was in the BGE store all the tables I saw were made of cypress, a light color, fine grain wood. The tables had a sticker attached saying not to stain the wood.Cypress is like redwood, locust, etc... It does not rot readily, lasts a long time.

    chuckls,
I made a table and stained it with all kinds of pork juice, chicken juice, Drool, olive oil, assorted rubs, and big black rings from my cap. It looks rough but it very functional.
