A friend of mine from down under sent me this link for an old gas BBQ that garnered 27643 viewing hits before the auction ended. Not so much for the item he was auctioning but I'm sure for the couple hundred questions and comments he answered. Read some if you have the time and can get through the Aussie slang. Although his grill was an old style gas one he makes some pretty good fun of the new fancy stainless steel jobs.

    The counter is hard coded not an actual counter.

    It is an Old, old, old trick on eBay.

    Go look at the auction. In your browser view the source of the page and search for "27643" and you will quickly see the hard code for the count.

    If that was done on the US site and someone reported it to community watch the auction would be pulled and the seller warned or suspended. I am not sure if it is a problem on the AU site.
