A table for two
I was down near the BGE store in Atlanta yesterday with my wife so I decided to stop in to pick up a couple of bags of lump for my large egg. She notices the small used eggs for sale on the sidewalk and comments how cute they are. I don’t remember much that happened after that - I think it was shock, but I’ll recount what I can remember.[p]We walk in to get a couple of bags of lump and this wonderful lady comes out from behind the counter to help us. She gets my lump and then sets me up with a new spring hinge for my large. As she was chatting with my wife I check out all the other goodies the store has to offer. When I get back to my wife she's telling me we need a new small egg with all the accessories. [p]I walked in for a couple of bags of lump and walk out with a spring assist hinge for my large, 80 lbs. of lump and a new small egg fully loaded! After 12 years of marriage my wife continues to amaze me![p]Now to my question. About 8 years ago I built a basic table for my large with plans provide by the BGE store. Now I’ve got a new small sitting in a nest next to my shabby old table. I need help. Does anyone have plans for a nice table to handle both a large and a small in the same table?

OctoberGlory,
You could adapt my table to hold a small egg instead of having the tile:[p]TNW

OctoberGlory, sorry I don't have a pix to post, but I'm quite pleased the way my table came out that I designed around the same large and small combo. I essentially started with the BGE standard plan but modified as follows:
Mine is a cart with wheels, but being as heavy as it it I've never moved on in over 3 years, but anyway...
The top itself is 47 x 26 and is made of strips 3/4 x 3 1/2 with a 3/8" space between them to permit movement in the wood from humidity. Then for the skelton for the top the center of my cross bracing 2 x 4 is 27" from one end and 20 from the other. Reason is that allowed me to have an equal amount to space on the two ends and between the eggs. It balances to the eye very nicely. Determine the diameter of the two holes and then lay out your top accordindly. In other words find the center of the top section which has an outer dimension of 27 x 26 and the other 20 x 26.
The lower shelf is made the same way and will be your call for how far your BGE should protude thru the top. Consider the inches needed for the green feet and a concrete stepping stone too as well as consideration for the space needed for the spring hinges. Now to please the eye I wanted my small to protude with the same amount of height from the table top to the egg's lower lip. In order to raise the small to do that I made a box without a bottom, turned it over and the small rested on it raising it to the proper heieght. That "box" then became the carcass for a drawer I made to go inside. I used stainless steel roller bearing drawer hardware - it works slick and holds many utensils. For a work space I purchased a 24 x 18 laminated cutting board and attached it with hinges on the end by the large. The hinges are rated at 100 lbs and fold flat allowing it to hang flush against the end and fits nicely under the protection off the BGE table cover. Just make sure you get the model made for a large and a small or a medium. BTW the cover dimension is what dictated the 47 x 26 table top size. Holler back if your're interested in more detail. Ron

Excellent - just what I was looking for - thanks for the table ideas![p]Just finished our first dinner on the small. Started with two baked potatoes and then 40 minutes later pushed the potatoes to the side and roasted 4 ears of corn. Put all in a warm over then put sliced squash brushed with olive oil on the egg to roast for a bit then into the oven with the potatoes and corn. Ten minutes later and two nice rib eyes were coming off the egg. Had dinner outside sitting on the porch for the first time this year.[p]What a nice way to break in a new egg.
