RARE steaks for beginner.
I can't wait! I am picking up my EGG today. I won't get home until around 5 so I won't have time to read the directions or watch the video. I figured that Steaks would be an easy place to start.[p]I have read Naked Whiz's site about grilling steaks but have a question. If I want a REALLY rare(blue?)steak, do I just sear it and skip the 400 degree cook? [p]I will be cooking 5 Med rare 2 inch Top Serloin Strip steaks and then my Blue steak.[p]How long should I cook the med rare ones at the 400 degree and how long on the sear?[p]SOrry for the stupid questions. I am sure I will understand more after I watch the video, just don't have time for the 1st cook.

Nate Dogg`,[p]I always just sear and dwell, and more than often the "dwell" is done on the plate rather than in the Egg.

Nate Dogg`,
yeah
just sear that thing, don't dwell.[p]the first thing you should cook on the egg is the video, followed closely by the cookbook. [p]i think everyone here will tell you that both are next to useless, to be a little direct.[p]you already know about the Naked Whiz's site, but check these sites (there are a few others, too) for some great additional information.[p]http://yyyz.net/bge/default.asp

Nate Dogg`,
Make sure you study "flashback" on TNW's website. If you're in a hurry, like we've all been in the past, it can be a life altering experience.

BluesnBBQ,[p]What does "dwell" mean?
-
Nate Dogg,[p]Dwelling is shutting both vents completely, with the dome shut and the steak on the grill. For rare I just let the steak sit on a plate for a few minutes before serving.
