My fire box is now a convertible!

The fire box in my large has been badly cracked for 18 months now, but still in two pieces - so operational. Yesterday was pizza on it and all was well. This afternoon I started to dump in more lump for baby backs for tonight and lo & behold a large chunk above the ash opening had fallen down inside out of view. With gravity and friction I've got the piece to work for one last cook for memory sake. Off to the dealer tomorrow!
PS guess the only reason I posted this is to assure newbies not to go bannas when the box first cracks - you have plently of time before it really goes bad.

    RRP,
Good post Ron, mine is in 4 pieces, the only difference is you might be able to get one right away from your dealer, I have to at least a week or more for shipping.[p]Ahhhhh, maybe that's why I have 3 egg and one other ceramic cooker??????? Glad you're getting another cook out of it.[p]Cheers,
    New Bob

  • RRP,
Mine was in four pieces, finally contacted the dealer. They replaced it, provided I return them the cracked one. No charge. Not a bad warranty, even after three plus years. Good customer service provided to our dealer by the good folks at BGE headquarters.
