Stupid Pizza Question

So I did pizzas on the egg last night and have a conundrum.
I pressed out the dough on a metal pizza tray while the pizza stone was heating on the egg.
Covered it with sauce and toppings......and then couldn't figure out how to get the pizza off of the metal tray and onto the hot stone. (kinda sticky, limp, etc)
What am I missing?

After I get mine shaped, I throw it on a wooden pizza peel that I've dusted in corn meal. Slides right onto the stone.
-
Build it on parchment paper and then it can be moved easily and slid on the stone. You can cook the pizza on the paper and don't need to remove it. Peels are pretty cool though.
-
Make sure the pan is greased, and after a few minutes on the egg, you should be able to slide it out from under the pizza with the help of a spatula. I do it all the time.

I use coarse corn meal never have a problem w. sticking. You may want to roll out dough on a cutting board then transfer to lightly dusted tray/peel.
-
I think the key word here is 'pressed the dough out on the tray'. Get the dough ready to go, then place on a peel or even the back of a cookie sheet (dusted with flour and cornmeal). Then build the pie. Every once in a while, wiggle the tray to make sure the dough is still "free", and it will slide right off onto the stone for you. Others use the parchment method...up to you...there are many ways that work well. It will just take practice.

I prefer the parchment paper method.
> Put the PP on your peel
> Build the Za on the PP
> Trim the PP within an inch of the ZA
> On to the Egg
> Off the Egg and Slice on the peel
Cleanup - throw away the PP

Frank,
just couldn't bring myself to cutting on the peel. -
ditto- on Frank's method. If you do not want to cut it while on the peel,-slide it onto the pizza tray, discard parchment paper and you're ready to bake another!!

It's got some character with all the radial scores from the the Za cutter. It's redwood so it is easily scored.
I could always pull out the belt sander but I'm cool with it. No new scores for a good while. :( Maybe tonight. -
I always put the crust in the oven or on the Egg until it develops a skin and then take it out and make your pizza. It will slide right off.

we make our pies on a dusted peel, slides right off and onto the stone

Same problem was solved by parchment paper.

I guess I might as well congratulate you on last weeks game. I expected a loss for the
GOOD GUYS, but Dayem!! -

lol  but didn't the "GOOD GUYS" win.....

Thanks all!
Sad part is that I didn't catch the problem until it was too late. Put the pizza pan on the egg for a couple of minutes until the dough had some body and then was able to slide it off onto the stone.
Lotsa good suggestions here and will likely try them all.
