Appetizer Ideas???

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
We are having an open house and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some ideas or recipes for appetizers? Of course I would be cooking them on my BGE. The number of people expected to be there is around 75-100.

Greg,[p]The usual ABTs and wings.[p]OR...go for the Crab Cakes. Just make 'em smaller than the meal-sized ones that Mad Max and reduce the grilling time to compensate.[p]Only problem is that they just might not make it to the party

    BobinFla,
These can all be done ahead and either served room temp or reheated:
    --grilled shrimp
    --bacon-wrapped scallops
--boneless chicken strips, skewered, with spicy peanut sauce
--smoked salmon, sliced and/or made into a spread
    --wings (make LOTS)
    --ABTs (make LOTS)
--pulled pork, reheated, and served with small rolls
--beef or pork tenderloin, marinated, grilled, and sliced thin
--spicy grilled vegetables on toasted baguette slices
--deviled eggs (not done on the BGE, but a fave at parties)
--turkey breast, sliced thin[p]The list is endless! I'm just getting started. Have fun.
    Cheers,
    Gretl

<p />Gretl,[p]Who says you can't do deviled eggs on a BGE. These are a big hit whenever I take them somewhere. It may sound a little weird but they are really good. [p]Chuck[p]

Greg, smoke up some scallops, peeled shrimp, and some lobster. cut up the lobster into bite sized bits. do this the day before the party. during the party, quickly deep fry the chunks and serve with a dip and some wooden skewers. my parties usually end up in the kitchen. i set up a wok with a little oil in the bottom and let the guests fry their own food with the skewers. for a dip mix sour cream with a generuos amount of horseradish, parsely and thyme, salt and pepper.

QBabe,[p]I'll give them a try, still have some Gilded Splinters left. That reminds me I need to do an order with Ken. By the way, I may have missed your post, but did ever do those crab legs and how did they come out? Have a good one.[p]Chuck

  • fishlessman,
Let us see now...party...end up...hot wok w/oil...nah...won't work with the party people I know, too big a fire hazard, not to mention the burns on the numb bodies.

  • QBabe, and everyone else. Thanks very much for your help. The "smoked eggs" idea would have never occurred to me - Thanks Again!
