    steven,
If you're trying to eat a little healthier, with the flash is a little "lighter".

Looks great Steve!! I wish there was somewhere that had healthy low fat recipes on here. Maybe there is and I don't know.
As for flash or no flash for what it's worth I would vote for with flash. Like the pics better.

Looks very good, Steve. I've never steamed kale before, but will have to try it. Much quicker than what I usually do, and probably more nutritious too.

I fill a pot with kale, add a cup or so of water, some s&p - and a couple of tablespoons of bacon grease. Sometimes some chopped garlic too. Add water as needed and simmer forever. Probably has no nutritional value at all, but it sure tastes good! Collards are good that way too.

    Your way is healthier.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

  • Michael,

I'm starting to look at healthy a bit. It was good. I used to do greens with ham hocks.

I hear ya. That's why I don't do the kale that often. Will have to try the steamed version. To tell you the truth, I'm new to this whole egg and it does have me a bit worried. The food is so good, and much of it is, umm, less than healthy. Pork butt? Ribs? Brownies? Really tasty, but... scary!

Looks yummy and healthy Steve, I can attest that it's good to visit the doc once in a while. As for flash or no flash, experiment with different white balance settings and increase ISO when no flash :P my two cents.

  • Michael,

It is good. The trick is now to mix it up with some healthy stuff. I think it is doable.

I have to work on that. Especially portion control! I DID have steamed broccoli tonight - but along with that, a buttered baked potato and a 1 lb rib eye.

Gag me with a spoon. I'm thinking kelation therapy for a fresh start. Doc says all I have to do is quit smoking.

Broccoli and asparagus are pretty good steamed. With a little s&p. Not as good as sauteed or grilled, but not bad.

  • Steve, remember, 4 out of 5 doctors recommend no smoking, no drinking, and no fatty foods. So my advice is to party with doctor # 5. Seriously, keep posting the healthy habits. By the way Molly, that concoction sounds gross. Kale in the morning??? :pinch:

Mi kind of dinner my friend. Looks really good Steve
  • As long as you are consuming the pot likker (cooking liquid), your long-cooked method isn't inferior to steaming. So make some cornbread, sop up those juices, and don't capitulate to the "steaming is better" nonsense. Or do like the Italians: make brothy greens, then add white beans, pasta, a bit of chopped tomato, and call it a soup.
  • gotta find that macro button, too, and get a lower angle!

nah. looks great. even if you think the pic is weak, the food is strong.
