Getting Egg Hot

Hello I am a new user to the egg (two weekends) I was looking for some feedback on getting the egg above 600 for cooking steaks. I seem to be stuck at getting it above that number. Not sure if that means i need more charcol. It has worked perfect for slow cooking but i have read alot about getting the egg hotter to cook steaks.
