this is why its so good to have friends and neighbors who are great cooks. . .most of you know my cross-the-street buddy brett (posts here under 'brett', really original, i know). .. anyway, brett is a great q'er, even if he is still a metal head (that will change when he gets his egg at waldorf). .. but he is as much an egghead as the rest of us considering his time with nature boy and using my egg and having me and charbuddy on his comp. team, etc. . .so brett says to me last night that he wants to do a brisket on my egg (working on some competition stuff), and i says sure, and i'll set up the egg early on sunday morning and then he can lay on the brisket and track its progress during the day. . .so i got up at 7am, went out in the nice dry crisp cold morning, started the fire, set up the plate setter and grill, and then i've checked temp status a couple of times during the day today. . ..well, now its snowing like nobody's business, brett has promised me a chunk of that steer, and he is the one stuck outside in the dark and snowy night checking on things. . ..what a deal!!. . .[p]dang, its good to have friends. .. . beers on a snowy cold night. .

mad max beyond eggdome, I started some pork butts and a piece of chuck roast yesterday at 1:00 while I raked leaves in shorts and a T-shirt. This morning I had to go out in a hard cold rain to check on it. I sure wish I had a friend like that this morning at 7:30.
