Made the jerk marinade last night. Have one butt marinading in the jerk, another butt sprinked with dizzy dust. They're sitting in the fridge waiting for me to come home tonight and get the egg started.
I'm giddy.
or maybe that's just from the blood loss from my painful mistake last night. Those of you who were at Eggwegofest this year may have noticed me wearing a rubber glove on my right hand because I had sliced off a fingernail the night before while prepping for the fest. I did it again last night. Shaved the fingernail right off...and it had JUST grown back, too.
Same situation as last time...past bedtime, rushing to get done, wrong knife for the job, herbs, poor technique. Real bleeder this time. Maybe someday I'll learn.

OUCH !!!! Maybe that's why I'm not allowed to play with sharp things

  -
Geez Ben. You gotta learn to be more careful.
Ya I know. It's hard to do when you got some exciting cooking planned. Good luck with the Butts. Stay safe! -
OUCH
-
-
No boilermakers before using knives!
Careful out there.
Happy cookin!
Chris -
Ouch? Not really. Not until I cleaned it. The knife was so sharp, I barely even felt it when it happened. Hurt like heck to clean it, though. And again this morning. Thankfully, we have the neosporin with pain killer.
-
The only alcohol involved was the rum that went into the jerk marinade...and I didn't take a swig from the bottle, I swear! Maybe I was just distracted because Jay Cutler had thrown another interception.
-
Thankfully, it was while I was cutting the cilantro, and NOT while I was cutting the scotch bonnets...then it would REALLY have been OUCH!!!
-
Ben, Here is something that may intrest you. Now, I ment this as humor but, it may be of intrest to someone as well. I would not want to cut myself. Tim

Hmm. No alcohol? One more idea, try not to hold your finger in the path of the knife? hee!
Sorry about that man. Finger nails are hard to come by.
Chris -
I wore those when I worked in the cafeteria in college, whenever I had to clean the meat slicer. They ARE very good for preventing cuts.
-
Oh, so THAT'S how it's supposed to work! Now why didn't I think of that?
I'm treating it like a bad haircut...it'll grow back. -
So Sorry! Stay away from Bordello, hear is is testing new SHARP Shun knives.
-
Just tryna help ;-)
-
You should really stop doing that (Ouch)! 8 - )
-
So that was the extra ingredient in that cheese steak. -RP
-
LOL! Talk about blood, sweat and tears!
No, it was long after the cheesesteak rolls were done and in the fridge (or did I assemble those the next morning? I forget). It was while I was chopping scallions for the beef stir fry dish. Thankfully I had bought enough scallions that I could replace the ones I had to toss. And last night it was cilantro, and you know you can never buy just enough cilantro for one dish...it's always a huge amount. -
You ain't lyin', brother.
-
It will grow back as long as you stop cutting it off..
They make a special glove just for people like you.. It deflects the knife from fingers..
:woohoo: -

thanks for not saying "one with shorter fingers."
 -
Hey Wolf, will that glove protect one from getting cut while stealing food off another one's cutting board ? :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Was it your "FRVG" finger or your "JUHM" finger?
My fingers are hurting thinking about it. :pinch:
How the heck are you typing so much?
The butts sound mightyfine.
-
lol...took me a few minutes to figure out what you meant...it's my "ik," finger...the bird. Which, as I learned last time, is also my cabinet opening finger. I just changed the bandage, and apparently I did a better job of it last time. Before, I didn't have any problems typing. Now that I've changed it, I'm finding that it's getting in the way.
