Genuine Wagyu beef worth the price difference?

I am going to a birthday dinner soon at a restaurant that I have eaten at several times that serves genuine Wagyu beef. I have always ordered a prime filet or ny strip and have never been disappointed. They have a Wagyu NY strip on the menu but haven't been able to convince myself to order it yet. Is the taste/texture difference worth the price difference?

TIA

In my opinion it is really only worth the price differential if you like your beef rare or rare plus. Cooked beyond that it becomes more like prime beef.

Cooked properly it is unbelievably tender and flavorful.

brook...not taking a cop out here, but it all depends on the restaurants purveyor. It should be the American equivelent of Kobe, so it should be luciously rich and tender....higher fat content. Sounds like a top notch place....so go ahead and order it, and if it is not to your liking or expectations, you can always send it back for one of your 'staples'.
Ask the waitress the very same question you asked here, setting the expectation that you expect better than the regular strip. Then if you are not pleased, they will not be completely surprised. (Trust me, restaurants worth dining at just want to please....and if their philosophy is different, find a new restaurant). Personally, I would go for the splurge, setting the expectation before hand that you do expect it to be even better than those you have had in the past. ;) Just my two cents.....
    Enjoy your special dinner. :);)
  • Thanks. I only eat beef cooked rare, so this is why I'm asking. I have tried to some research over the past week and just wanting some others opinions.
