Placement of BGE feet under my large

This past summer Cindy and I packed up the egg and table to travel 800 miles one way and cook for my friends and family. When I pulled the egg out of the table from off three bricks the table was chared from where there was no brick. While I was out on vacation my untreated table got rained on severeal times and all the grain had raised up on the wood.
I realized when I got back home I had to sand my table smooth and stain and apply four layers of spar urathane and place some fire brick under my egg to finish my table.
Up until today I only had two thin layers of firebrick under my large egg in my table. I did have feet but I used them to keep my egg from rocking in the hole.
While at the Eggtoberfest I did buy three more feet to place under my large egg in my table. I wish I had got three more for under my pizza stone for when I cook pizza's.
For saftey I placed the feet under my egg even though I have two layers of fire brick. I have felt the fire brick after a clean burn and I was amazed at how hot the fire brick was. So, it makes perfect sence to make an air gap to allow air to keep things cool under my large egg.
Notice I made a ledge in front so I can rake out my ash into a small CI skillet. This setup seems to work well for me.
As you see here I have used a grinder to make my three feet fit evenly spaced around the hole. My feet fit very loose so my egg is not wedged in the table. Yet it don't rock sitting up so high. I want to thank little steven for encouraging me to go ahead and get this taken care of. Tim

You're not leaving those feet wedged between the egg and the table top when you cook, are you? Air is a much better insulator than ceramic. Heat from the egg will be conducted straight through those feet to the wood of the table top. I don't know whether it will be enough to cause problems, but I wouldn't want to chance it. But it's a nice idea for keeping the egg from shifting while you're moving the table.

Thanks Ben I'll keep an eye on that. Tim

Thanks for the advice. I once build a table and forgot to use the feet. It was amazing what the heat did to the stone underneath. I guess that little bit of air does what it is supposed to do.

Paver stone and no feet. Yes it does get hot down there.
