Woo 3 question

Hello all,

I just got the Large Egg and needless to say I am very excited. Cooked poppers and steak this weekend and it was a blast.

I do have a question about essential accessories. I did not get the place setter and was about to go and purchase it when I saw the Woo 3, http://www.ceramicgrillstore.com/ceramicgrillstore/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=60&Itemid=227.

My question is does the Woo3 with the baking stone replace the placesetter, or do I need both.

Thanks for the info.

It can replace the plate setter as a way to do many indirect cooks. I have a WooII ring and use it constantly. I didn't realize there is now a WooIII. I feel like I'm behind in an arms race...
  • Thanks for the quick reply. AS I look on the ceramic cooker website, I am starting to lean towards the adjustable rig. More expensive but also seems to more flexible. I get the sense that this will be an expensive hobby.

You'll find there aren't many things you need because the egg itself is so versatile.
My list is an indirect piece, a woo ring, a decent meat therm and a bottle opener / corkscrew. Obviously the adj rig is more versatile - nobody would buy a domestic oven with a single fixed shelf height but I like the simplicity of the ring.
But then I've added tongs, skewers, the odd piece of cast iron and so on.

I went the woo3 route also. Was thinking about an adjustable rig but concluded I didn't need the multi-surface capability. I've only done a couple of indirect cooks and they were great.
