BGE should modify the ceramic in the band area similar to the Vision design with the lip. Then this reoccurring failure would be unlikely to ever happen. In today's era of rampant litigation I am surprised that they don't.

It looks like the thremometer with a cork on it. That way you can use a grill extener without poking holes in the food in the top rack.
