Like every year, we are very lucky to get the monarch butterflies come by on their way south to the state of Michoacán.
Monarchs use a combination of air currents and thermals to travel long distances. Some fly as far as 3,000 miles to reach their winter home in México.
They chose some of the trees at home to spend last night, here are this morning's photos just before & after sunrise......
Here they are about to restart their journey..............

Very nice pictures, Beli. When I lived in San Antonio, TX we used to get a couple of nights a year where our trees looked like that. During the day you could lookup and just see them thick and headed south. Thanks for sharing!

You can have California, but leave us Nevada, Arizona, and Texas.

It's looked less to me so far, but we've had some really crazy weather lately that may have had an effect. The little Texas Snouts have been pretty prolific, though.

Today I don't see much of anything, but maybe as it gets warmer....
