Frustrated in Australia!

Hi All,
Spent the last few days doing the research on the BGE and work out a shopping list of what I would like and how to set the BGE as a system.
All I can say is I would love to be living in the USA at the moment. There is no BGE following as such here in Australia resulting in no accessories, mobile tables etc etc.
BBQ Galore are not doing the BGE any favours in fact I am not even sure they want to sell the BGE however they are keen to try and upsell you to the Kamado. Anyway my experience so far.
I would like a bunch of accessories including a CyberQ II, medium size mobile table and probably a dozen accessories. All I can get here in Aus is and BGE at $1695.
I never do things by halves and unless I can make sense of finding a one source supplier in the USA that I can purchase all the gear from and get it shipped to Australia then it looks like a dead duck.
I realise that warranty would go out the door doing it this way however given the availability of spares, gaskets etc I do see an issue providing the Egg ships safley.
I suspect that the BGE distributors have their territories and are unlikely to sell to an international buyer, if I am in correct about that please let me know. I would be happy to put in touch with a BGE US distributor.
Failing which still looking to find a distibutor that stocks the accessories, tables etc etc with the view to having my good mate in San Fran take delivery and then on forward all the gear.
Love to be able to do it here in Aus but it ain't a happening thing downunder!!
Regards,
Ian

fleetz,
Hopefully the mother ship takes notice of your posts and weighs in. Your situation certainly sounds furstrating - one would think you could buy a lot of packing and cover shipping of a large + toys from SF with the difference in prices, AUS vs. USA.
BTW and not to politicize this post and to say something I've wanted to say to an Aussie since 1972: "may God bless the Australian men and women in uniform as they are a credit to your country." Thanks I'm finished now. -
I believe "grilldome" is avail. down under

I would Call BGE mother ship directly and see what those fine folks could do for you. 770-934-5300. The difference in price might warrant a cruise to the US to see your friend and get a new Egg and some Egg toys.

A "brutha from anotha mutha down unda"........welcome to the forum.
Does that price include the table and Cyber Q?
Making a table yourself and attaching casters isn't hard and that would save some of the cost. You could order the Cyber Q from USA and put it on a slow boat to save on shipping cost.
Does your dealer have the Egg in stock? If so, I would continue to beat them down on the price. Once they realize you arent going with the Kamado, they might cave a little.
Just my 2 cents. Good Luck!!! Hope to see you posting some pics of your new egg soon. -
Hi RB,
Gidday Bruva digger mate!
Thx for your comments and they are relavent to my current thinking. I can and am thinking about making a timber table with castors and I agree not difficult to do.
The $1695 is the egg and nest only...you can't buy it without the nest! No table or CyberQII...
Hmmm the price is with the local guy not going to shift a dime! Been there done that a year back when I finished up buying my 6 burner all 316 stainless steel BBQ from a dealer in Sydney about 2000kms away. I was looking at a couple of his units which were a good $1300 dearer than the one I finished up buying. He would not budge a cent so I walked out the door and bought online.
Reminded him of the last dealing and would you believe "that is the price my friend" hmmm I ain't his friend! So haggling which I am reasonablye good at sees me crashes and burns here.
The other thing that grates me is we are fast approaching parity USD to AUD and the prices has not change a cent. So who is pocketing the extra 35%??
To be very honest I am seriously looking at other options at the moment the BGE is in the mix but looking very distant at the moment. Another poster here flagged a Grill Dome which I am drilling down on at the moment. Still interested in the BGE but it has to make sense. Only havinga single sourse supply source here in Australia doesn't make for getting nice pricing out comes. On principle I won't pay full whack :woohoo:
Thanks I am aware that I can get the CyberQII direct from BBBQGuru...I bought one for a WSM some time back. There stuff works nicely and is nicely priced.
Unfortunately we live in a smokers BBQ backwater compared to you guys in the USA. You guys are spoilt for choice and are light years ahead of what is happening down here.....we live in a cave. Been smoking for 12 years here and know of one one other person a friend who I turned onto the smoke cooking a few years back.
Cheers,

Well I'm sure the Grill Dome is pretty good and you will do fine with that, but the Egg is the real thing and the Big Green Egg company is outstanding in every way. Good Luck to you.
