5cfm fan enough for Large Egg?

The Stoker ships with a 5cfm fan as standard, and I see that several posters to the Virtual Weber Bullet forums complain that the 5cfm fan is not enough to get their WSMs above 300 degrees.

I am getting a Stoker, and I plan to use it for cooks as high as 350-375 - and so my question is, does anyone have a 5cfm fan on their Stoker/Guru with a Large Egg and is it enough to get the Egg up above 350 degrees?

    Yep. I have kept it above 350 with it.

    I have the Guru 4cfm fans and they are right about the WSMs, I couldn't get over 320. On the Egg though the 4cfm is more than adequate. It will take it to temps that will destroy the leads. So I'm sure the 5cfm with the Stoker should be fine. -RP

    Thanks for the responses. I had always assumed that the 5cfm fan would be plenty for the Large, but realized that I had never confirmed that with anyone.

    It's good to know that it's going to be able to get up to 350-375 for those turkeys and beef roasts.

    I'm pretty excited to get my Stoker - unfortunately Rock's Barbque does not share my excitement. I ordered it on Oct.12th, and it still has not shipped :S

    Just FYI, when my Gurus were new to me, I tried to use them on all cooks. Now that the years have gone by I find that the only time I use them is for over night low and slows. 350-375 cooks are so easy to hold temp on the Egg there is just no reason to hook up the electronics. -RP

    The 5cfm will work fine. I've used it for temps varying temps succesfully. Be patient with Rock's. It's well worth the wait!

    Once the cold weather comes and the snow starts to fly, I find that I cook on the Egg a lot less. I'm hoping that a Stoker will enable me to keep cooking on the Egg more frequently by reducing the number of trips I make outside during a cook.

    I also like to take the family for a walk right before dinner. Having the ability to control the Egg from my phone would make that a lot easier and more relaxing.

    So, I plan to use the Stoker quite a bit. We'll see how that works out.

    If you stabilize the egg around 200-250 which is incredibly easy even without a power draft control, you could leave for your walk while leaving the cell phone at home. Any temp can be reached in just a few minutes from a well established 250deg fire.

    I know what you mean about the ease of achieving stable temperatures with the Egg. I have had mine for 3 years and use it very often, and I am completely comfortable with its ease of use.

    My preference for having control of the Egg while not standing in front of it comes from the fact that sometimes a 1hr walk turns into a 2hr walk, and vice-versa. A Stoker and my phone will allow me to start some chicken at 350, and turn it down to 275 if we decide to stay out longer, or turn a 275 Egg up to 350 if we are coming home sooner, so that dinner is ready whenever we get home.

    Sleep is also valuable to me. When doing an overnight cook, rather than getting out of bed to go outside to check on things in the middle of the night, I can roll over to my night-table and simply open a browser window on my phone to see a log of what's been going on in the Egg since the start of the cook.

    So, I'm hoping to get much more than just temperature stability or even just remote readings of instantaneous temperature of the food or pit out of a Stoker. At least I'm hoping to.
