My lid sticks shut

My lid sticks shut much the way the castiron daisy wheel does. Is there an easy fix for this? Any input is greatly appriciated.

  • Duner,
With such small amount of info, I will try to answer. If in a cold climate, if frozen, put cube lighters in ash door and light after removing cap from chimney. 1 or 2 should do the trick. Some people put aluminum foil between top and bottom to prevent this from happening. You could also have a shrunken gasket with the glue remaining outside the gasket and it is sealing. Look this over very carefully and carefully remove the excess glue with a razor scraper. You might also have gotten sauce or grease on the gasket. Clean with mild soapy water, without scrubbing. Hope this helps. Occasionally, I put Miss Daisy inside on the grill and crank the heat up for a half hour or so, this should help. Others have soaked in water/ammonia solution and rinsed well after two or three hours.
