Who eggs on their boat???
Pepper Monkey BBQ
Posts: 652
Ok ... boating is part of our relaxation ... and we have a 26' cuddy cabin power boat that we can 'camp' on when out on the bay ... but who camps without their egg??? As seen here, I'm cooking on our silly little stainless steel propane boat grill ... I've brainstormed some ways to safely attach and use a mini and/or small on a boat ... but am wondering if anyone else uses their egg on the water????
Not an egg ... not acceptable!

The first food I ever ate off an egg was on a deep sea fishing trip. Fresh gulf red snapper that was swimming minutes before. Awesome!

At the marina we visit with friends at least 5 outta 10 boats have some size egg on board.

mattesoncreations,
Had to sell my boat before I found eggs. Would if I still had her. 42 Carver aft.

If you're talking saltwater you're going to have replace the bands and hinge assembly. If you notice the picture in the thread the egg has stainless bands. I've seen a few built in and a few with an aluminum (same aluminum tubing towers are built out of) frame and stand built that is screwed to the deck and the egg sits in.
Something I've alway wanted to do (at least since I've had an egg) but I always figured by the time I got everything fabricated and installed I'd have so much invested in it as to be plum silly. That, and I hate to give up the deck space permenantly. -
i think i would want the band to lock open and closed as well, wouldnt trust the spring band to hold it open. i remember seeing a post were the dome opend substantially more and rested on some type of post in the rear. i dont think i would do an overnight while sleeping on a boat either, maybe just use as a grill, but i dont have the deck space either. would love to have the added heat during iceout fishing though :laugh:fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Jeffy,
Is that on a pontoon? Lake Hamilton or Quichita?
My daughter and s-i-l have a pontoon on Hamilton and live in Hot Springs. He is also an egger, but only has a large - at home.
Cheers....
