First Salmon Cook by a Newbie-Advice Needed

I bought a 3 1/2 lb Salmon filet and am cooking for tonight on medium BGE. I'd like to smoke it slow I think. I don't have a plate setter yet (but it's ordered). I do have four fire bricks I can set up indirect. What's the best way to do this, times, temps, direct, indirect, drip pan? Also, I only have Emeril's fish rub and Old Bay (I ordered an 8 pack of rubs from Nature Boy last night but won't get them for a few days. Can't wait!) I have mesquite, hickory, cherry, pecan and alder wood chips for smoking but not sure which to use with salmon. Should I oil the fish first? I've never cooked salmon at all so this is new to me. The pictures posted of salmon convinced me I had to try this. :-) Any advice will be appreciated!
