Here's a recipe that was in yesterday's newspaper. I'm going to improvise and try it on the BGE with Chipotle powder and smoked with Cherry wood.[p]Sweet & Spicy Pecans
From the Austin American Statesman (12/17/03)[p]2 Tbsps. butter
6 Tbsps. dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. dried crushed red pepper flakes
1 tsp. salt
4 tsps. water
2 cups pecan halves.[p]Melt butter. Add next 5 ingredients, stirring until sugar dissolves. Toss pecans in mixture to coat. Spread on a nonstick baking sheet; bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until sugar carmelizes, stirring occasionally. Cool. Loosen pecans from pan with spatual. Yield 2 cups.

Louisiana Redneck,[p]I tried a revised version using only butter, turbinado sugar, chipotle powder & cinnamon. It's on the egg at 300 with Cherry wood chips at 300 on a pizza pan sitting on my placesetter. It's almost time to give em a stir.[p]I also made some Jamaican Firewalk Almonds tonight. They're still coolin down.[p]Beers,[p]Ed
