Propane burners in table?
DrugCoder
Posts: 219
I've seen a few pics of people that have built in propane or NG burners into their egg table. What kind of burners are being used? Are the tables always covered when not being used? I have two burners like that and both of them are cast iron which will rust easily. I like the idea of having a burner like taht in the table but my deck is not covered and I hate having to deal with a cover...

they make nice table top burners that you can put away if you want to avoid the rusting instead of building it in

I've thought about those, but I really liked the idea of having it built in like the tables I've seen over at NakedWhiz. I was even thinking about recessing the burner an inch or so and creating a lip to set a cutting board when the burner is not in use but not sure if that would be enough to prevent rusting on the burner(s).

Mine rust easy. They are just made from steel and painted with heat resistant paint. But, mine are removable. I pull them out, sand em a little and flat black em again. Mine were custom made at a shop in S. La.
They easily lift out of my table and have a set of legs I can slide them into if I want to take them with me -
if you recess the burners have a local sheet metal place make you a stainless cover to slip over it when not in use. cast iron will rust, but it usually only rusts so much, its the steel components that will rust awayfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

What kind of paint are you using? -
you can buy heat resistant spray paint at Lowe's/Home Depot.

I just added a drop-in to my island project that I built for my Primo Jr Oval.
I used a Broilmaster Model DPASBC from BBQ Guys - 13,000 BTU's. Best price I could find, and it included the Stainless Trim too!
