Should I worry

I just purchase a large green egg and the folks I purchase it from came over and put it together. I have used it 3 times and I noticed that the top part (dome) is about a 1/4 off from the bottom part. I also noticed that the felt inside is a little burned, about a 1/4 inch on one side . I spoke to the nice folks in Georgia and they told me they are willing to send a new rim/hinges to replace it. Is it worth it or am I nit picking to much?

Thanks

If there is a gap in the egg and it is open slightly in spots (when it is supposed to be closed) then it may just need a slight adjustment. Is that was you are asking?
  • There's no gap what so ever, no smoke leakage. Just the dome doesn't fit perfectly on the unit.

I would let them take a look at it and make a suggestion to you.

On my large egg...the dome and the base are different sizes...probably the same as what you are saying. I have had the unit 3 years or there abouts and never had a problem. There is very little gasket left...but who needs a gasket? Works well on low and slows and have no issues.
That being said...I think I was too forgiving. You bought a product using money you earned....it should be corrected for you.

My dad was thinking the same thing he has replaced his several times.

When he was cooking in the eggfest in Springfield he was talking to one of the reps from BGE and they told him he was living dangerously for one reason giving a cushion when opening and closing the egg.
