Last month we drove to Charleston, SC for a close friend's son's wedding (711 miles from our front door to the B&B in Charleston). Before I went I got a ton of help from Forum members and I just want to thank FIDEL, CHARLESTON DAVE and BENTE for the great advice and recommendations.
We had never been there before and we loved it - will definitely go back in the future!
Some "touristy" pics:
Shem Creek "Vickery's" restaurant - great food & view.
Lots of Spanish moss:
Loved the Saturday Farmer's Market.
We stayed two nights with a close friend who lives on Daniel Island - beautiful community!
We originally had planned to spend our extra days on the beach, but the "Princess" was loving all the history and architecture, so she wanted to go to Savannah (never been there either).
On the way, we took a slight side trip and found this:
Found a great B&B:
and did the tour stuff there also:
The Waving Lady:
Tybee Island (recommend the Crab Shack there):
City Hall at dusk:
The Princess 'got' into old cemeteries. This is "Gracie" - story on next pic:
On the way home, went to Stone Mountain (another new for us):
And lastly.... The Mothership:
Thanks again guys.
This forum is so great - and not just for food ! :woohoo:

Great pics, never been to Charlston either, but now I will have to make a trip sometime in the future. Now that I know the mothership is near by.

The Mothership is in a suburb just east of Atlanta, which was about the halfway point on our trip. We spent the night in ATL both going and coming. We put a total of 1800 miles on the car!

Clark, it looks like a fun trip. I have been to Savannah and Tybee Island, and your pics really make me want to go back again.
I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation - road trips like that are awesome!

Thanks, Faith. We really had a great time. We took a carriage tour in Charleston and a Grayline tour in Savannah. Both tours really gave us good perspectives on the history of the areas.
