Smoked Pork Loin
Julio
Posts: 20
Hey folks, I need some advice on cooking a pork loin for my father in laws office party. What type of wood do ya'll prefer when smoking pork loins? Also what temp and how long to cook? Direct or indirect? So many questions. Thanks in advance!

Julio,
I tend to use a couple of lumps of hickory for pork. I also have some nice pecan from my mom's yard that works well. Now, if I can find someone with an apple tree ...

My favorites are apple or pecan. Hickory and mesquite seem to be a little *harsh* on the taste and the apple and pecan seem to sweeten then meat.[p]I also go indirect with pork loins or anything that I want the smoke to penetrate.[p]Good luck, I'm sure it will be great![p]Bob V
