Potato skewer grate

Check out what I had made. :unsure:



It is made out of food grade stainless steel. I intend to use it when we need to bake a lot of potato's or need to bake potato's when the grate is full. :side:



I know I am taking a chance it cost $140 so far :ohmy: and I need to polish it to make it look like chrome or at least clean it. :unsure:
First I need to try it out and see if it workes and than I need to see if it needs a stopper at the bottom to keep the potato from sliding down. :ohmy:



So far it is intended to be placed on the grate with or without the platesetter.
Then I don't know if people will bulk if they find out their potato was skewered. :unsure:
I don't have a second egg and sometimes when I have the grate full of food there is no room for spuds. :S
The skewers spin around out of the way or can be removed anytime during the cook.
I am up for suggestions and or constructive criticism. :ermm: Try not to call me names. :laugh:

Nice idea. Good for more than just taters. I wouldn't worry about a hole in a spud. I often put a #12 nail into one to help speed baking. Might also be good for kebabs, brats, other veggies. And, I would suppose a screw on stopper would be a good addition, as things might slide once they cooked.

Neat idea. I love seeing what tricks and gadgets everyone uses/makes. Although, $140 would have been a nice start on that second egg!

I made a similar version a couple of years ago. The rod actually speeds up the cook of the potato... They do slip when they are done, but you could weld a little dog on the rod or just use an alligator clip to stop it.

I've got another vertical skewer prototype for my small Egg, that I want to a reverse tandori cook on, stacking cubes of meat on the uprights. I'm thinking that 5 uprights would work on this one. I rolled it the same size as my cast iron griddle in case I need to go indirect.

Thank you all. I was wondering if anyone uses a meat probe for the potato I think a potato cooks to 210* but I was wanting to see if there are people who moniter their potato cook for differn't reasons.
