Folks-[p]I have been following this forum for a long time now and was convinced the BGE is the grill for me!! This past weekend I got the OK from the "Misses" to go buy one. I was so excited I could hardly stand it!! I brought her home Saturday afternoon and put her together and just had to fire her up even though we were going out for dinner (pre-arranged). I got so excited, I ran out and bought a pound of ground beef just to cook something!! Yesterday I did some chicken for dinner. The BGE is the greatest!! I can't wait to try some of the recipes I have seen on the forum over the last several months. I look forward to taking my outdoor cooking "to the next level" with the help of all you wonderful people. I can't believe the temperature control, what fun!![p]Becks in MN

    Becks in MN,
    Where are you Becks?
I know some eggers around Saint Paul, you might have even bought your egg from one of them. Got a nice cookoff up in Brainerd too with a backyard division that you can get in to.

  • MickeyT,[p]I can already see it happening. One egg for the main course, one for the appetizers. I need to impress her enough before it goes beyond the large I bought this weekend.
  • drbbq,[p]Funny you mention those two locations. I grew up in and live very nearby St. Paul. It would be nice to know some of the local eggers!! How can I reach them if I need to? Do they visit the forum at all? I bought the egg from a pool and patio place called Poolside. They said they sell lots of eggs in the area. They were very knowledgeable and very helpful. I would hate to loose them as the local retailer since not many other option exists.[p]Brainerd is where I go to vacation with the kids in the northern lakes of Minnesota. Its a pretty short swimming season around here when the ice goes out in June and comes back in 'bout September!![p]

Becks in MN,[p]Well Rob at Poolside is one of the eggers I was going to send you to. I'm not sure which location he or you were at but be sure to look him up when you get a chance and tell him Dr. BBQ said hi. I think he will be selling eggs for a long time to come. The guys at The Outdoor cooking store in White Bear Lake have eggs as well and are also good guys. Phil and Blake. [p]I talked to Rob last week and we scheduled a couple events up there next Summer. One BBQ class at his store and another unknown event but both in July. [p]The Great Northern BBQ Cookoff is July 16-17 in Brainerd and shouldn't be missed. It's put on by the Brainerd Jaycees who also run the huge Ice Fishing Extrvaganza up there.[p]It's a great place to be in mid Summer but right now I'm glad to be in Florida.

  • drbbq,[p]Thanks for the info. Poolside has a location in Little Canada, MN and one in Eagan, MN. I bought from Little Canada. I wish I had met Rob but I am sure I will have other opportunities![p]I know Blake at The Outdoor Cooking Store in White Bear Lake very well. GREAT store over there. I will have to keep an eye open for the Great Northern BBQ Cookoff in Brainerd.[p]Another reason why I have grown to love this forum!!

Becks in MN,[p]Yeah, Little Canada. That's where Rob's office is so I assume he's there most of the time. That's where my class will be. Right by the pool outside.[p]Blake is a character. They cooked next to me in Brainerd last year. He had some kind of a leather man apron he was wearing. They won ribs I think.

  • Becks in MN,
Here's the best part...you can cook all year with Mr. Egg! The below zero temps and wind chills only test the operator, not Mr. Egg.[p]Cold, wind, rain, sleet, fog, snow, (tomorrow night in fact)No problem. It's too nice out tonight to test it....;>[p]I've used my Lg BGE about a year and a half...still learning. Keep good records of all your cooks, very helpful when you go to do that 20 pound turkey a couple of times per year.[p]Mike in MN (Brooklyn Park)
