I have seen posts on how do I clean a pizza stone. well I was cleaning my self cleaning oven yesterday, and forgot to take out the pizza stone. I thought it would be history, but to my surprise it came out looking brand new. So if any one wants a clean stone try this it really works.

    RRP,
Ditto on that, RRP! When my stone was new I got it really messed up after a couple of pizzas and thought I needed to clean it. I turned it upside down on the grill after a steak cook and let it set that at 750° for 10-15 minutes. It came out nice and white again, but did not cook one bit better. Since then - about a year - I have found that the stone works perfectly, and maybe even better, in its all black and shiny state. I have not cleaned it since and have no plans to do so in the future.

  • SteveO,
LOL! I guess I have to mess up once or twice to get the stone black and shiny.
