Time to pause and take some notes
In my humble opinion, I believe everyone on this forum, no matter how "green" we are, is very serious about our BGE's and getting better at using it. I, myself, have spent countless hours reading, learning, filtering ideas, taking a hint here and a hint there to cook the perfect turkey today. Was it good, yes! Would I change a few things, yes! [p]My suggestion to each and every one of us is to pause tonight and take a few notes (self constructive criticism). After all the hours spent leading up to today, 20 minutes with a word processor TONIGHT will be priceless the next time. IMHO.[p]As I tell people, I have a good memory, it is just SHORT![p]Just a suggestion,[p]Marty [p]P.s. Oh, thanks and happy Thanksgiving to all of you that unselfishly allowed me to read, learn, filter ideas, take a hint here and a hint there to cook the "almost" perfect turkey today.

LAD,
don't forget to share your experiences with the rest of us. .. many of my successes are the direct result of not only reading about others sucesses, but also their mistakes. .. i believe you learn equally from both. . .[p]so, do tell. ..

LAD,
I do a notecard on nearly every cook. It gives me a chance to keep track of what works, and what doesn't. When I do something that really works, I highlight the top of the card. I log the date, weather, times, internal temps, dome temps, drip pan info, direct/indirect, seasonings, rubs, whatever is pertinent. I keep the notecard out on the counter during the cook, and make notes as the cook progresses. It's nothing formal, but it works for me. I just have a stack of downloaded recipes and the notecards that I use.[p]It helps to go back for the next time you're doing that whole 18 pound Turkey to get a little (or a lot) of insight into the last time you tried it.
