drip pans

Hi all,[p]Just got my BGE and wondering how to set up a drip pan that is easy to use over and over again. I am presently thinking of using an aluminum baking pan and putting aluminum or stainless hooks on it to hang below the grill grate. Any suggestions?

    Frank Farkle,
The options are almost endless, if you read the thread below about indirect cooking you will see a couple of examples..yours would work fine also. I personally use the throw away aluminum pans, no mess to clean up...raising the grid in one manner or another seems to be the most used way of using a drip pan. There was an older version of a "raised grid" that you could hang below the main grid, very similar to the way you mentioned. My raised grid is hinged so it wont work for that purpose anymore..you can also use a "V rack" and set it directly in your drip pan right on the main cooking grid....many options...HTH..[p]Wess

  • WessB,[p]Thanks for the help. I'll experiment a bit.

  • Frank Farkle,[p]Been there done it all. I used one of my wife’s pans the first time...trust me she won't let me do that again. After that I started buying the disposable pans. After looking at the disposable pans it occurred to me I could make them to fit using heavy duty aluminum foil. That is what I do it to this day! I just yank out a piece of foil that I estimate will do the job then I mold the edges to suit me. When I’m done I toss it! Marty
  • Frank Farkle, drill four 1/4 inch holes, equally spaced, in a round pan. Insert two 1/4 inch diam steel rods, and place under the grid. Total cost is about $10. See link.[p][p][p][p]
