Good afternoon,
I have done alot of research on Big Green Egg. I want to try one but I have used several Weber Charcoal Kettle Grills over the last 10 years. I am trying to decide on a large egg or medium egg. I will mainly be cooking for myself and wife, and sometimes my daughter. Will a med egg be large enough? Any help on making this choice would be appreciated.

Randy ,[p]IMHO the medium is the perfect size egg. You can do steaks, whole chickens, turkey, burgers, ribs or overnighters. It doesn't ever "flash back" like the large does.[p]For two people and an occasional guest or two, the medium would work just fine.[p]I own two of them and use them excusively.[p]The large is great for jerkey and several slabs of ribs.[p]Most folks here a gree that "bigger is better" and I would agree on that for certain types of cooks.[p]Any decision you make is going to be a fine one anywho.[p]A Weber what?[p]Mick

    Randy ,
The medium should work but I would go with the large if it's in the budget. When I bought my first egg the price difference was not that bad. about $ 75 more for the large so I went with it. [p]Good Luck

The medium is what you need.

  • Randy ,[p]I have used a medium BGE for eight years and cook for a family of 4. This has been plenty big enough for the most part. I have done a few 18 pound turkeys, 6 racks of ribs and quite a few other big roasts as well as briskets. I even found a way to get 4 whole chickens on it at the same time. Either way you decide to go it will be money well spent. Good luck.[p]Happy Thanksgiving,
