I know allot of you eggers are real interested in cookoffs lately as well you should be. You have legit championship equipment and the cookoffs are a blast. [p]For those of you who don't know I teach competition BBQ classes that will help you understand the mindset and all the little things that go into winning a cookoff. There is much more to it than cooking a good dinner. [p]I've just scheduled 4 classes for Spring and I thought I'd tip you off. I won't be sending out apps until January so just keep an eye on my website and I hope to see some of you in Sunny Florida in February.

    TRex,
I might be passing through for the Rodeo Cookoff but no class is scheduled. Next fall would be nice.

Wise One,[p]Yeah the Lynchburg class will be fun. We have it at the pavillion where the Jack Daniels world Championship BBQ is judged. Cool place. David Roper is a friend and a tour guide so he took some of the class on a tour of the distillary. We had some BBQ cookoff legends drop by to visit as well.

David is something else, isn't he, Ray? He spent about an hour and a half with us at Shelby filling us in on the finer points of how the judging works. I can't wait to take the tour he promised![p]Jim

Obviously, he is not well, Daryl. He is lost. As the Kamado webmaster, he is a representative of that company and he is putting his company's image at risk by starting trouble over here? Business must be very bad.[p]On a lighter note, what was that great meat market you posted about awhile back. I'll be in Atlanta for the weekend and I'd like to check it out.[p]Frosty Ones!

Jim:[p]Well . . . First off we do not know if that was really Mike Sutor. If you post on this forum with a listed handle it may pick up your e-mail address as well as your handle. So that may not have been the Mike we speak of.[p]If it was, you misunderstand . . . Mike has not been the Webmaster for The Kamado Co. for some time. Regardless, he is a ceramic cooking enthusiast first, creative with technique as well as his cooks. A really fine ceramic contributor.[p]Glad you found the market link of interest. Here is another for you below. I picked up two Turduckens and half a dozen stuffed boneless chickens. We had two stuffed chickens this evening and they were very good. They are in Marietta and the site lists a map.

drbbq,[p]When will you be in the NJ area? Or do you purposely stay out of the great Garden State, knowing that the bbq competition is simply too tough here???[p]Just kidding. I would love to take your class, but my BBQ travels have taken me no further than Waldorf, MD. Perhaps I will need to enlarge my travel radius one of these days to make one of these courses.[p]Later,

Thanks for the link, Daryl. I'll see about giving them a visit on Friday![p]Happy Holidays!

  • Ray,[p]Is the Lakeland class a ceramics-centered class, or just competition in general?[p]Thanks,

MemphoManiac,[p]All the classes listed are competition classes covering all cookers. At this time I have no ceramic only classes scheduled. We talked about the day before eggtoberfest but that is a long way off.[p]Did you cook that chicken the other day?

  • drbbq, [p]I'd like to show up in Lakeland for some schooling, that is if you're admissions policy isn't discriminatory against us non-dimpled types. [p]I wish I could claim it, but the 5th place chicken was Don's effort. All I did was slop a little sauce on it once and run it up to the table.[p]Had a lot of fun talking to y'all briefly and with the whole experience. I think I picked a good one to start with.

MemphoManiac,[p]You are welcome as long as you pay in green, my favorite color.[p]That was a great event and Don is a real good guy.
