What a great time. I had the pleasure of Qbabe joing my team for the weekend and she was in charge of egger relations. I think she had a great time and I know she did a great job. Putting a bunch of eggs on display is a commitment, every body wants to stop and chat and talk about them. Mr. H took a shift as well. Tonia must have needed a break because she was at it non stop.[p]It freed me and RibDog up to do the entries for the contest. Our ribs were pretty darn good and came in 4th place. Got a nice trophy and a little cash. When we went up to recieve our award the announcer asked me if I had cooked them on my egg. I had so he said "That's a heck of an advertisement for Big Green Egg". All eggers would have been proud.[p]I also cooked a really good brisket but there were two judges who didn't agree. One gets thrown out but that second one will kill you. That's part of the game. The level of competition is so high that no slip ups are acceptable.[p]Congrats also to The Eggomaniacs. They finished 11th in chicken, 11th in ribs and 14th overall. That's pretty darn good for a brand new team. Unfortunately they only announced 1st through 10th. Their green canopy is hard to miss.

  • drbbq,[p]Congratulations to both you and Jim on this new contest. Looks like it was sure a tough crowd and I am glad to see that some of the Florida teams did well in this event.[p]I wonder just how long it will be until Q-Babe and Mr. Hyde get into contest cooking?[p]Dave

    drbbq,
CONGRATS those ribs were reallllllllllly killer ribs. ( I ate some of the left overs.) The cooking public is beginning to take notice of the BGE. [p]J Slot had some excellent chicken, the judges will just have to refine their taste buds.[p]QBABE can t wait untill Jan. to see more eggers in Lakeland at Tiger Town Pig Fest. Great spending time with yall .[p]Again congrats to all
    Cheers[p]MR H

Hi, Ray. Congrats on those outstanding ribs!! Thanks for the kind words about our finish. It's really funny how that stuff works. The things I thought we had good entries in (pork and brisket) got terrible scores and our ribs, which I thought sucked, got 11th. I knew I was taking a chance on the chicken with no sauce. But what the heck, another 11th. Go figure. LOL.[p]Anyway, it was fun hanging out with you and Tonia this weekend and I'm looking forward to Lakeland! Tell Ribdog I said hello, too.[p]Frosty Ones,
    Jim

  • Hello back to you also Jim. It is always great fellow quer's in person. I think you did extremely well at Plant City. It was just a tough, but fun and well-run, contest. I hope to cross paths with you and your again real soon.[p]John
