Twice today I heard that response when I inquired about...NOPE not about lump!...but about outdoor thermometers! I asked what is seasonal about knowing the outside temperature and of course neither clerk could give me an answer! Even the third store - a Target - directed me to the seasonal merchandise section where I found the only one they still had in stock. Fortunately it was an Oregon wireless model like I wanted and has a 100 ft broadcast range.

true, but it galls me to pay another 50% for S & H for the price of a small cost item! My point was I'm still baffled why a thermometer is considered seasonal merchandise.

I agree with you that I want to know the temp all year round, but, as far as being worthy of shelf space, it is a seasonal item. The majority of people are only concerned about the outside temperature when it is hot or cold. If it was a good seller year round they would stock it year round. Although you would think they could find a spot somewhere for at least some off season items.
