Tel-Tru Bimetal Thermometers Guide

I wanted to post this for other EggHeads who are looking for a replacement Thermometer. I ruined my TelTru 50/500 thermometer and was trying to find a replacement on TelTru’s WEB site, but no luck. (There is a product in the BBQ section for the High Temp Thermometer replacement 23100566 and 23100565)
The Large/Medium Eggs require a .150 stem diameter. (hard to find)
TelTru has an entire line of .150 stem Thermometers, in the Laboratory/Test section of the site. You need to decode the following charts to get the thermometer you want.
First up;
What dial size do you want?
Usually the LT225 series (2” dial) 2210 is the code.
Want a 3” dial? 2819 is the code (note the lens is plastic)

I went with LT225R (which is adjustable) 2310 (first 4 digits of Part Number)

The 5” stem length is code 05 (digits 5 and 6 of part number)

Now the fun part, what range do you want? (digits 7 and 8 of part number)
I did a code 66 for high temps and a 64 for low and slow, from the Fahrenheit table.

So putting the part numbers together;
2310 05 66 is a LT225R 5” stem @ .150 diameter with a range 200/1000 F*
2310 05 64 is a LT225R 5” stem @ .150 diameter with a range 50/500 F*

Why not just go to their website and order either the 2.5" stem or 5" stem model with the appropriate temperature range that they indicate is for the BGE?

It takes about 30 seconds and all the figuring is done for you. Am I missing something?
Edit: Oh, I see. The 50-500 option. I've never wanted to go that low, but then I've got other alternatives. Gotcha....The Naked Whiz -
google tel tru bbq thermometers
bge replacements are listed as such
or go here

Yes,
Looking for a better temperature resolution for low and slow. Plus you have other options if you want a different temp range other than the replacement.

If you want a High temp replacement. This is the chart, if you want a lower range. You gotta have a .150 stem dia from the LT225 series Laboratory/Test section.

most of us looking for low and slow start out with maverick et-73 and graduate to a guru.. as they have meat and pit probes in one unit thermopen/thermoworks makes a whole bunch of probes for different temps as well .. i see now what your goal was but to be honest this is the first time saw anyone looking for a lower temp dome thermometer... personally , i would never get one,,, because after 3 glasses of wine i would forget to replace the 500 degree one crank the egg to 800 and kill the 500 :laugh: :laugh: good luck with your low and slo post pix

Resolution? I can read my Tel-Tru down to around 2-3*F precision. How much more closely do you want to read dome temp? Why not get a digital for $15 instead?

But sometimes I'm too lazy to get it out.

and just do it the old fashion way! With good tools,a gut feeling and a touch of Luck!
and yes I fired it up for a Pizza cook and forgot to pull it....

3 more bucks gets you a good waterproof analog dial. The guide here was just to show people some other options available for a dome thermometer.

considering most of us came from using propane gassers, which all read one out of "low-med-mi", you have a damn good point

Thanks, Monty, we're all pretty up on the Tel-Tru line here.
BTW, on low-n-slows I often use a second digital in place of my bimetal dome unit. If it's raining, I just put the electronics under a ziplok bag. The probe is dishwasher-safe.
