I used to be a copy editor--a life-long curse. This typo is "fovever" in the Search Forum, "go back" (in time) drop-down menu.
Speaking of menus, I proofread those every time I'm in a restaurant. A CURSE, I TELL YOU!

we could use a cheat sheet here/hear for those who are/our confused about apostrophes/apostrophe's and the use of words like "were/where".

Dear gos:
That is why I feel such strong kinship with you. You CARE about those things...and don't forget the relative pronouns which and that and the commas that make ALL the difference!Judy in San Diego -
I just cant tollerate reading messages from people who cant' spell right or propperly punctuate a well-construct'ed sentance.
Thank you for your excepshunal attention to detail, Judy. Keep up the good work and keep them other people on there toes. -
You must get a real headache when reading posts from those who took heavily to drink during the fire-up, cook-up and eat-up process. LOL That's gotta be a lot of headaches.
"Yessireeebob... I fared 'er up, throwed on a hunk'a meet and weighted patsonally fer it too git done so's I could eat it. It were goood yea..."

...and case agreement, and parentheticals, new paragraphs, homonym confusion, and the most egregious thing of all: ignoring capitals
we need a dictionary, too.
marinate= to soak something in a flavored liquid
marinade= what you soak it in
advise= to give someone advice
advice= what you give them when you advise them -

..and affect and effect, oh yeah.
I give a cackle at the marinate/marinade thing all the time.
By cackle, I mean I've adopted myself into Leroy's brood.

Welcome to my world. The world where I started out learing the three "R's": Read'n Rit'n an' Cipher'n.
I also took to learn'n some history (everbody in lOuisiana needs to no some'm about Huey P. Long), and geographie (everbody needs to know whare ther'r at), and even som typ'n 'cause sooner or later somebody's gonna axe you 'what's yo blood type?' (min's red and sticky most of the time).
But most of all, I be learn'n how to line up words when I'm 'a writ'n so's they make sence (don't make no never mind when Im talk'n 'cause I can start out say'n "I mean..." or stop talk'n by say'n "know what I mean?"
An if'n I'm tell'n a story I can zagerate a bit and all them listen'n to my story will take it for gosple, expecelly if it's 'bout sex or poletics.
I love be'n Souther'n
