Grilled Tuna
Ross in Ventura
Posts: 7,234
A friend of mine went tuna fishing last week and gave me some, so I grilled some up on the Egg.

Two tuna steaks marinated with melted butter, soy sauce, and olive oil for 30-min.

On the Egg at 425* for 90-sec. a side.

Looks just right.

Served with salad and Jazmin rice.
This the best Tuna I have had in a long time.

I agree with Bacchus, that looks perfect! Looks like it was cooked just right. I love good sea food but it has gotten way to expensive.
I hope the California fires are staying far, far, far away from you. Hopefully they can get them under control before the Santa Ana's start blowing. I think they said on the news this morning that they are only 5% contained across a sixty mile front. Will be praying those winds don't start up.

Really looking good, Ross.

Nice. I wish I had friends who could score tuna like that, but being in Ohio that's not likely.

Yes sir, that looks awesome! I haven't had tuna in a while - might have to hit the fish market soon. So many dishes, so little time!

Ross, if you have any left, and like cilantro/lime/ginger/garlic, you might consider this Tyler Florence recipe. It calls for a skillet with the sauce poured over the tuna as it's searing, but I've done it directly on the grill and added the sauce after plating. Delicious either way. I usually serve with basmati rice and grilled asparagus spears (instead of the avocado he mentions). Not sure how much cilantro to recommend - leaves from a "bunch" is so ambiguous. Couple of tablespoons maybe?

My mom HATES tuna, but she couldn't get enough of this dish.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Thanks Gator, yes these fires are way out of control but a long ways from me here in Ventura. I did have a 12 AC. horse ranch in Acton, Ca. its probably gone.

Sorry to hear about the horse ranch, will keep my fingers crossed and prayers that the wind stays down. Every spring we have a fire season here in Florida and it can get pretty scary.

Ross, I can't help but notice the charred table. I'm no expert, but I think the flash temperature of charred wood is much less that that of ordinary wood - putting your table at risk of spontaneous combustion. I am sure people on this forum know more than I, but you might consider cutting another 1/2 inch off that table.
Great looking tuna

Ross,
Great lookng tuna - fresh tuna has to be out of this world.
I'm vacationing in Palm Desert and all I see when I look north west are huge clouds or smoke streching across the skyline. Good luck with the horse ranch. -
Thanks Ed

Thanks Bill, I sold it 1990
